Operated by Good News Project in Wausau, the Mobile HELP Truck will transport durable medical equipment to and from Wausau to a community near you.

What is the Health Equipment Lending Program (HELP)? A program where people can borrow gently used durable medical equipment for short-term (up to six months) use. A monetary donation is suggested per piece of equipment, although it is not required to utilize the program. The user is responsible to pick up the equipment, (from their location in Wausau or from the Mobile HELP Truck when it stops in your community), then return it when it is no longer needed.

What is the Mobile HELP Truck? A vehicle that brings cleaned and sanitized medical equipment, reserved in advance, to people outside of the Wausau area. It can also be used to drop off equipment from previous loans or to donate gently used equipment. The vehicle will park at a central location in each town for one hour, two times each month.

How does the program work? Anyone looking to borrow equipment needs to call the Good News Project home office (715-843-5985) from Monday – Friday 9am – 4 pm located in Wausau (1106 N 5th Ave., 54403), to check availability and complete a contract over the phone.

The requested equipment will be loaded onto the truck the day that it will stop in your community. You arrive at the truck, during the one-hour window that it will be there, to pick up the equipment. If the equipment is large, or heavy, we ask that you bring along someone that is able to help unload. Alternately, the equipment can be picked up in Wausau if needed by an earlier date.

Can I return my borrowed equipment to the truck when I am done using it? Absolutely! People with donations of gently used medical equipment can drop off items at the truck as well. The driver has the right to refuse items that are not needed. Please call in advance if questioning donations. (If the equipment is heavy, please make sure someone is there to assist the driver.)

What communities will the Mobile HELP Truck stop at? Antigo, Athens, Birnamwood, Edgar, Hatley, Marathon, Merrill, Mosinee, Rhinelander, Stratford and Tomahawk. The truck will park in each town for 1 hour at the listed public location, before moving on to the next town. (see the Schedule for all of the details)

What if the weather is bad, the truck driver is ill, or any other reason that the truck will not make the route? Someone at Good News Project will contact all people that are expecting equipment using the phone number provided. The goodnewswi.com website will also be updated to reflect the change in route.
