Due to lead and cadmium exposure risk when damaged, we strongly discourage removing the plastic outer shell of CRT TVs (often called “tube” or “box” TVs), or disassembling them in any way before bringing them to us for recycling. We will still accept up to two of them at no additional charge, but three or more will result in a price increase due to special handling and safety requirements. Removal of the plastic shell does not significantly decrease the overall weight of the TV.
